The National Catholic Development Conference's Mentoring Program is a benefit of membership and well within the organization's stated mission to

lead the Catholic development community toward excellence in the ministry of ethical and competent fundraising.

The Mentoring Program offers less experienced fundraisers the opportunity to meet with and learn from more experienced fundraising professionals. It is a way to become steeped in the principles of Catholic philanthropy and to enhance an organization's knowledge of the ethical principles of raising funds while proclaiming its mission.

NCDC makes every effort to pair mentor and mentoree based on expertise, needs, and geographic location. If necessary and possible, adjustments (changes in the mentor/mentoree match) can and will be made.

Criteria for Mentor

In order to participate in this program as a mentor, we ask that the following requirements are met:

• Minimum of five years of fundraising experience
• Completion of the Mentor Application
• Submission of professional resume
• Commitment to work with Mentoree in the following ways:
• Make contact prior to the annual conference , if applicable
• Serve as support for one year after the conference via phone, personal visit to the office of the mentoree or mentoree to mentor's office, e-mail, members only website
• Complete six-month and final evaluation forms
• Approval of participation in this program from your direct supervisor, as applicable

Criteria for Mentoree

In order to participate in this program as a mentoree, we ask that the following requirements are met:

• Membership in NCDC
• Completion of the Mentoree Application
• Commitment to work with the Mentor in the following ways:
• If attending the Annual Conference, plan to meet with mentor if possible
• Use opportunities during the year for support via phone, personal visit to the office of the mentor or visit from mentor to the mentoree's office, e-mail, members only website, webinars and regional programs
• Understand and appreciate that the role of the mentor is to offer helpful feedback and guidance, not to actually write strategic plans, create budgets, or make presentations for the development office
• Understand and appreciate that the commitment of the mentor is only for one year
