Assessments

One service NCDC can provide a development office (members and non-members) is a Development Department Audit. The purpose of such an audit is to:

  • Assist an organization in assessing current functions, procedures and processes in order to further the mission of the organization and ensure ethical fundraising.
  • Encourage best practice that is mission-driven and donor-centered.
  • Offer strategic recommendations for future growth.

While the issues addressed in each audit vary depending on the specific organization being audited, the components addressed within every audit include:

  • Stewardship of the Mission
  • Relationships: Internal and External
  • Ethics
  • Best Practice
  • The Role of Development in the Future of the Organization

Each audit is coordinated through the NCDC national office and is conducted by experienced fundraisers and executives chosen specifically to match the needs of the organization being audited. An audit typically includes: pre-audit discussion and assessment, 2-3 days of in-service meetings and a comprehensive written summary report.
