Read more about this year's program
Since 2005, the National Catholic Development Conference (NCDC) has offered an extremely popular workshop, "Fundamentals and More." This workshop was created in response to a survey of religious institutes conducted by National Religious Retirement Office (NRRO) and NCDC that indicated some significant trends:
This three-day program is designed for small-to-medium-sized religious institutes of women and men who are considering a development program as a possible option to further promote their mission and find new sources of revenue and support. The program usually takes place in the spring in the Midwestern part of the country, beginning at 1:00 PM on the first day and ending with lunch on the third day.
Attendees are usually congregational decision-makers from religious institutes who currently have no development program or whose development efforts are very minimal. The program offers sufficient information to take back to the community in order to make a decision and begin to move forward.
Program content includes basic principles of ethical and competent fundraising in the context of mission and relationship. The presenters are experts in the field. In addition, there are mentors with years of experience in fundraising in religious institutes who work with individuals participants during the workshop. There is also a year of follow-up mentoring post workshop.
