Welcome Reception and Capitol Steps
Meet new friends, connect with old friends and enjoy your first night in our nation’s capital at the Welcome Reception in the Exhibit Hall followed by an evening of song, satire and laughter as the famous Capitol Steps perform.
Cost of admission to both is included with your registration fee, although a ticket is required for the Capitol Steps show. Additional tickets for spouses and guests are available for purchase through the NCDC office.

Evening in Historic Alexandria
Monday, September 21
Departs from the Crystal Gateway Marriott at 6 p.m.
With more than 250 years of history and hospitality to its credit, Alexandria offers an array of historic and cultural attractions. Alexandria's many historic homes, churches, businesses and museums allow residents and visitors alike to experience the hand of the past that makes the city the charming and historic town it is today.
This all-inclusive tour of Alexandria will combine dining at a one of the nation’s oldest public houses, Gadsby’s Tavern, with a walking tour.
Nearly all of the founders of American Independence enjoyed the warm tavern hospitality of Gadsby’s Tavern. Notable visitors have included George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison and James Monroe. No public building in America is more intimately associated with the struggle for independence and establishment of national sovereignty. Dinner at in this old-world atmosphere includes salad, bread, choice of 3 entrees, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages.
Following dinner, enjoy a 60-minute walking tour through the historic streets of Alexandria as you are led by lantern-light by a colonial guide. Guests should be prepared to walk for the full 60-minutes.
The tour includes round-trip transportation from the Crystal Gateway Marriott, dinner, a 60-minute walking tour, all taxes and gratuities. A limited amount of time will be allotted for shopping and exploring Alexandria. The bus will return to the Marriott at 10 p.m.

Monuments by Moonlight Trolley Tour
Tuesday, September 22
Departs from the Crystal Gateway Marriott at 7:00 p.m.
When the sun goes down, Washington turns into a different city, and this trolley tour knows just the right way to show off the Capital City at night!
A professional tour guide will take you to some of the city’s most popular monuments and let you see the city in a different light, stopping at:
- Iwo Jima Memorial
- FDR Memorial
- Lincoln Memorial
- Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial
- Korean War Memorial
Along the way, you’ll be transported back in time as you ride along the same streets the presidents have traveled, and hear historical tales and anecdotes about the city’s fascinating history.
The tour includes transportation and guided tour. Dinner is not included. Cost: $50. Returns to the Marriott at 10:00 p.m.
